According to the motto "Connecting Cultures", we will bring together approx. 100 students and an international assortment of academics and authors from the English-speaking regions of the world.
Our Summer School will take place at the English department of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover from the 14th to the 18th of September 2009. Our main aim is to promote academic research as well as cultural exchange in the field of the new English literatures. The Summer School is organized biennially by interested students under the auspices of the ASNEL(German Association for the Study of the New Literatures in English). The Summer School is a regular event that exists since 1992. It is directed towards English students who would like to gain an overview or deepen their knowledge in the field of the new English literatures. Therefore, lectures, seminars, and readings will be offered in English with the aim to promote the internationalization of learning and to explore the cultural and literary diversity of the English-speaking world. Additionally, students will be able to earn credits.
We will be supported by the history department of the University of Hanover. Their knowledge of world history, gender studies and developing countries will benefit our cultural and literary meeting between academics, students, and authors.
The Summer School 2009 will give the humanities department of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover and the regional capital Hanover the chance to present themselves to a national and international audience on an academic level.
